Snowland Journeys

Snowland Journeys Virtual Challenge

About us

Snowland Journeys supports Nepal's Himalayan children and their families. These children are often sent away by their parents when they are just four years old, to school in the city, in the hope that education will give them a better life.

For 12 years they live and study at school, but due to the remoteness of their villages, they are unable to see or speak to their parents. Upon completion of exams, aged 16, the children make the long journey home to reconnect with their parents, gaining an understanding of why they were sent away, the sacrifice their parents had to make, and realising they are deeply loved.

Our Reintegration Programme prepares the students and their families emotionally and physically for this vital reunion, helping with personal and social development, social work support as well as the journey home. We are hoping to send the next group of students back home in May 2021, and all money raised from our Vrekking Challenge will go towards supporting this project so that we can help them and future groups.
